Our Origin

Whats behind a name

Rancho Conmara pays tribute to both sides of our family’s heritage and our Coastal California ranch roots.

Rancho pays tribute to the deep Spanish roots of the section of California we live in where most of the longest standing ranches were part of Spanish Land Grants and rightfully so use the Spanish word Rancho which means ranch in their name. Davia’s fathers side has deep Spanish roots so the name also was very fitting from a personal standpoint.

Conmara pays direct tribute to Jesse’s side of the family and his very deep Irish roots. Conmara is the Gaelic spelling for McNamara which is our family’s last name.

By putting both the Spanish and Gaelic words together we formed Rancho Conmara. Our own personal tribute to honor our family roots and California ranch history while creating a space for our family to grow, thrive and a place to prepare our children for their unique roles within this world and community.

Rancho Conmara is a small, sustainably farmed ranch in Lompoc that is home to the McNamara Family. The ranch was purchased in 2018 and where we finally started calling home in the fall of 2020. With deep roots in Lompoc we knew this is where our family’s story would be and with a bit of luck & a whole lot of hard work we were able to move from town to the country to be able to raise our kids & animals on our own little piece of land growing flowers, pumpkins & seasonal fruits and vegetables. The ultimate hope is that this ranch will be a space for our family to grow deep roots, nurture the community and raise the next generation of the California Cowboy.

Our Family

Davia

A note about Davia written by Jesse: Davia is the organizer in the family. There is a daily schedule of things that need to get done and usually there are reminders and alarms at certain times throughout the day that go off on her phone. Nothing satisfies her more than looking back at the day and seeing all the boxes that have been checked off the list for the day….my BBQ TriTip is a close 2nd! Without her schedules I would never be on task or have any clue what day of the week it is or when it’s time to go to bed. She sets goals and most times meets/exceeds them. My only goal for the day is to make her laugh at least once. There’s so many small tasks she does throughout the day to get us where we need to be. She keeps this train a moving.

Jesse

A note about Jesse written by Davia: Jesse is the force behind the family. He has an ability to make the hardest of tasks enjoyable and ends everyday with some sort of joke. He is capable of building literally anything and is one of the smartest people I know. He is the fun dad. Our children will be the most capable, confident, resourceful individuals because of the importance he puts on teaching them daily. He shows up-always. If I only had one call, it would be him. He has invested fully financially, mentally & physically in making this ranch and our lifestyle possible. He’s all in and when he’s all in there isn’t anything that can stand in his way.

  • Liam

Liam is a proud farmer and community helper. What he loves most about the ranch is that our farming will help people and the flowers make them happy. He is a deeply caring 6 year old that loves family game night and telling jokes. He’s a champion mutton buster and talent show jokester.

  • Fiona

Fiona is girl after her own heart. Once she sets out on a path there is no stopping her. She is an animal lover and can frequently be found singing to her pony or cuddling a chicken. She is fierce and hardworking.

  • Buddy

Buddy beats to his own drum all day every day. He loves his chickens and his cat Tiny who is not so tiny! You can find him doing flips on the trampoline or riding his bike while everyone else is horseback. He’s stubborn and silly but will easily win you over.
